Fundraising
Home-Start Butser is responsible for raising all the funds required to run its services. It costs us around £200,000 a year to support 262 families. That’s £763 per family a year, or £15 a week.
Our services include weekly Family Group meetings where parents can meet up and make friends with other parents who live nearby, helping to end feelings of isolation and loneliness. These groups are welcoming and informal and are enjoyed by parents and children alike.
We also offer help to parents in their own home with our carefully chosen and trained Volunteers who visit once a week to give practical help and parenting support. All our volunteers are parents themselves so they know and understand many of the struggles that parenting can bring.

This vital work is only possible through the kind support of people like you. If you would like to help with our work then please think about how you could hold a fundraising event for us.
Set yourself / your team / your company a fundraising target with that £15 a week in mind.
If you can raise £200 then you would cover the training and annual supervision costs of one family support volunteer.
If you can raise £1,000 then you could be supporting one family for a whole year and that is life changing.
If you can raise £5,000 then you could fund one of our Family Groups for a whole year, supporting parents and their children because childhood can’t wait.
Fundraising Ideas
Fundraising doesn’t have to be complex or time consuming. Here are some simple ideas that you might use:
- A ‘Dress Down Day’ at work for £2/£5 each
- A Bake Sale
- A Quiz Night
- A Sponsored Dog Walk
- A Chocolate Challenge: give all your colleagues a tube of smarties to enjoy and ask them to return it to you when it’s full of £1 coins!
- Sweepstakes: Rugby/Football/Horseracing/Tennis
- Guess the Weight or Number: bake a Victoria Sponge or fill a jar with jelly beans

Shop Online and Raise Money for Home-Start Butser!
Have you heard about easyfundraising yet? It’s the easiest way to help raise money for Home-Start Butser! If you already shop online with retailers such as Amazon, M&S, Argos, John Lewis, Comet, Vodafone, eBay, Boden and Play.com, then we need you to sign up for free to raise money while you shop!
So how does it work?
You shop directly with the retailer as you would normally, but if you sign up to our account for free and use the links on the easyfundraising site to take you to the retailer, then a percentage of whatever you spend comes directly to us at no extra cost to yourself.
How much can you raise?
Spend £100 with M&S online or Amazon and you raise £2.50 for us. £100 with WH Smith puts £2.00 in our pocket and so on. There’s over 2,000 retailers on their site, and some of the donations can be as much as 15% of your purchase.
