As a Hampshire-based business, we’ve always believed in looking after our people and giving something back to the community where we live and work.
We wanted to support a local charity whose values reflected our own, but we were looking for more than simply making a donation. We wanted our staff to feel involved, to know they were making a real difference, and to build a partnership that would have a lasting impact. That’s when we found Home-Start Butser.
Home-Start Butser supports local families with young children through challenging times. Their trained volunteers provide practical and emotional support to parents who may be feeling isolated, overwhelmed or struggling to cope. The charity’s work immediately resonated with us because strong families create stronger communities.
“We were looking for a better way to help our local community. All our staff agreed that Home-Start Butser was a great place to get started.” Malcolm Turnbull, CEO
Our partnership began with a regular monthly corporate donation to help provide sustainable funding for Home-Start’s services. From there, our employees embraced the opportunity to get involved too. We’ve matched the money raised through staff fundraising events, encouraged volunteering, and supported Home-Start’s work in ways that bring our whole team together.
It has become far more than a sponsorship – it has become something we’re genuinely proud to be part of. What has surprised us most is how much the partnership has benefited our business as well.
Supporting Home-Start Butser has strengthened our team, giving colleagues a shared sense of purpose and an opportunity to contribute to something that makes a real difference close to home. It has also helped us demonstrate the values we hold as a company and strengthened our reputation as a business that cares about its local community.
Most importantly, we know our support is making a tangible difference. By providing reliable funding and practical support, we’ve helped Home-Start Butser continue recruiting and training volunteers, enabling more local families to receive the support they need during difficult times.
“After spending the last 15 years as a volunteer, I’ve recently become a trustee to help ensure that Home-Start Butser can keep helping families for years to come.” Karen Turnbull, CFO
Partnering with Home-Start Butser has shown us that supporting a local charity isn’t just good for the community – it’s good for our people and our business too. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to continuing the partnership for many years to come.
