Thinking of Volunteering?
There are several ways that you can help Home-Start Butser in a voluntary capacity:
- by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer (see Support Families)
- by helping in our Family Groups (see Support Families)
- by becoming a Community Ambassador
- by joining the Trustee Board
- by becoming a Member of Home-Start Butser
Ambassadors
We are a local charity that provides desperately needed support to families in crisis and we need people with big hearts and a commitment to changing lives, to become our Community Ambassadors.
What we do
From isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability, to those simply rinding parenting a struggle, we provide the care and respite that can change lives and give children the best start in life.
Why we need you
Right now our volunteers are helping many local families and children but requests for help are rising and without more funding, we will have to turn them down. This is why we need you. As an Ambassador you will help raise awareness and funds for Home-Start Butser services so we can support all the families and children who need us.
Could it be you?
Do you or your children attend local community or school groups? Are you a member of a church? Do you have strong links in your surrounding community? Do you simply have a passion for helping families in need in your community?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, we would love you to consider becoming a Home-Start Butser Ambassador. By helping promote us in your communities and networks you will play a critical role in helping increase awareness of the vital work that we do, and help us raise much needed funds.
Sometimes it is the simplest things that can help
Just a few hours a week circulating leaflets or letting your friends and family know about our work can make a huge difference. If you’re feeling more ambitious, you could give talks and presentations to groups and local schools to raise awareness, approach local businesses to hold collection tins, donate raffle prizes or make us their chosen charity. You could even arrange your own fundraising event. Whatever you choose, your time and effort will make all the difference to families at a critical time in their lives.

Home-Start Butser’s Trustee Board
Although we are part of the national organisation of Home-Start UK, each scheme is run independently. We have an agreement with Home-Start UK which ensures that we abide by their Standards and Methods of Practice and follow the Home-Start ethos and quality guidelines. Our Trustee Board is made up of local people from a wide range of backgrounds such as social care, PR and marketing, IT, HR, funding and business. The main requirements of a trustee are a real interest in the work we undertake and a willingness to be actively involved in the running of the charity. The trustee board is responsible for the financial security of the organisation and ensures its strong governance.
If you can help us we would love to hear from you, please contact us.
